Going Small on Cars

The characteristic similar to these five car models is their small size and in automotive jargon, these five cars are categorized under compact cars. Compact car is a term used to identify car models that are smaller than a mid-size vehicle but slight bigger than a supermini. Yet, the quantitative basis of determining if a specific vehicle is a compact car or not is argued in many ways because size is a relative measure depending on which part of the globe is being considered. Thus customarily, even a supermini can sometimes be called as a compact car.

Technically speaking, a compact car is known to attain better fuel mileage with the basis of its undersized dimensions and weight. And since a compact car is smaller than a conventional vehicle, it is also known to be easily controlled, maneuvered, and stored. In addition to that, due to its compressed physical dimensions, a compact car is expected to cost less in terms of initial payout and long-term expenses. Plus, a compact car is easier to clean in comparison to bigger cars.
The great innovations made on modern compact cars compared to older versions of this car type have made it more appealing to consumers. Before, a compact car is thought to be a vehicle with only the basic function of allowing a person to transport oneself from one location to another location and there are no special features that come along with it. But nowadays, car manufacturers try to embed similar features in compact cars that regular sized cars have. The engine, electrical system, sound system, ventilation system, and other features are no longer distinguishable between a regular car and a compact car. Only the size sets the boundary and difference between the two.
Therefore, the benefits and features offered by a compact car made it a car of choice by most drivers who usually drive alone or in a small group, who experience daily long drives from home to work, and who are women. On the basis of less expensive price, first time car owners also choose and buy a compact car.
